A monthly bill has crept up, but when did it change and how much extra have you paid? That’s the kind of question Anthropic’s new Personal Finance feature lets you ask Claude. Announced on 5 November, the beta is rolling out to US subscribers on the Pro, Max and Ultra plans. The announcement gives no UK launch date.
Users choose which accounts to share through Plaid, the service that connects Claude to their bank. With permission, Claude can read balances and up to two years of transactions. Ask which regular payments have gone up, for example, and you can follow up by asking to see the charges side by side. Access is read-only, so a subscription you spot still needs cancelling with the provider.
Anthropic says it excludes conversations in the Personal Finance hub from model training. If you discuss the same figures in an ordinary Claude chat, your usual privacy settings apply.
Why this matters
A charge that rises a little each month is easy to miss when you check one statement at a time. Claude can flag the change and pull up the payments behind it. For a question like “What’s left until payday?”, check your banking app before spending. Anthropic says the balance Claude sees can be a day or two behind.
