Reduce dust, scratches, fading and uneven exposure where the underlying content provides enough information. Improve clarity gently, without creating hard outlines or artificial skin texture. Keep the original expressions, facial proportions, clothing, hairstyle and background. Preserve the existing colour or black-and-white treatment unless I request a change. Avoid modernising the styling or making the subjects look younger. Where damage has removed information, do not present a guessed face or feature as recovered detail. Leave uncertain areas understated and briefly identify anything you could not restore reliably. Return a separate restored image so the original stays intact.
How to create your image
One photo, one prompt and a few details to make it yours.
1. Choose your photo
The clearest scan or photograph of the original portrait. Use the original image where possible, with the face clearly visible.
2. Open ChatGPT Work and choose Astra
Start a new ChatGPT conversation and switch to Work. Open the model control near the message box and select Astra / GPT-6 Astra. Attach your photo and wait for the upload to finish.
This follows the Thrive walkthrough setup. You can also use a ChatGPT conversation with image generation available. Access depends on your plan, app and workspace.
3. Copy, personalise and send
Use Copy prompt above, then paste it beside your uploaded photo.
There are no brackets to replace. Upload the original at the best quality you have. The prompt preserves the existing colour or black-and-white treatment. Add a colourisation request only if you want that changed.
Send your message to create the image.
4. Refine and save
Open the result to inspect it. If you want a change, describe one adjustment at a time and say what should stay the same. For example: “Soften the shadows and keep everything else unchanged.”
When you are happy, save or download the finished image using the controls available in your app.
Keep your original file and compare faces and fine details before saving the edit. AI may reconstruct missing information; a restored image is not a verified record of details lost from the original.
